At Maple Hill Free School, we realize that a standard 6-hour day, five-day school week may not fit for your family, your child, or your lifestyle. Learning happens constantly- not just while in school- and we value real world connections, family experiences, and diverse learning opportunities. To reflect this, we offer a variety of programs to suit your child’s needs and learning style. We realize that the struggle to make the change from a conventional model of education to one like Maple Hill’s can be difficult, and we want to make the change as easy as possible. In order to help your family make the right decision for your child’s education, we offer a variety of different program options, including full time, part time, drop-in, and short term to accommodate your child and your family’s needs.
Each program operates the same way, with the same group dynamics, philosophies, and opportunities. Children will be a part of group democracy and creative problem solving, and have the opportunity to learn teamwork and self-regulation skills.
Full-time program: 4 days per week (Monday-Thursday), 9am-2:30pm.
Part-time program: 2 days per week (to be determined at registration), 9am-2:30pm.
Drop-in program: 5 days per month (each month’s days to be determined before the first of the month), 9am-2:30pm.
Short term program: Our popular short-term programs are back in 2017! These six-week programs allow your family to experience self-directed education in a mini series of six full days at Maple Hill Free School, without the commitment of full-year enrollment. Each program will work on a group project, create a reflections journal, and allow plenty of time for independent learning. And of course, there will be lots of outdoor time, play, and friendships!
Short-term programs run in six week cycles on Fridays from 9am-2:30pm. Please contact us to find out when the next short-term program is starting!
